Karen is the Director of Family Research at the Leo Baeck Institute and Co-founder and Jury President of the Obermayer German Jewish History Awards. She has served as President of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies, Chair of the Council of American Jewish Museums, Co-chair of the Board of Governors of JewishGen.org and chair of the Memorial Museums Committee of ICOM (the International Council of Museums). Karen is on the editorial board of Southern Jewish History and was recently elected to the Board of the National Association of Retired Reform Rabbis. She is also a professional genealogist.
