David Kalb is the Rabbi of the Jewish Learning Center of New York where he is responsible for the creative, educational, spiritual and programmatic direction of the organization. He also serves as a teacher and a guide to students who are pursuing conversion. Additionally, Rabbi Kalb is an Associate Faculty member of CLAL – The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership and a Senior Rabbinic Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute. Rabbi Kalb was on the educational advisory board of the WNET/BBC documentary ‘The Story of the Jews.’ Before becoming the Rabbi at Jewish Learning Center of New York he was the Director of Learning and Innovation at Central Synagogue, where he was the first Orthodox Rabbi to serve in a senior-level position at a major Reform congregation. Previous to Central Synagogue Rabbi Kalb served as the Director of Jewish Education at 92nd Street Y. He has lectured at many different institutions including, the General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America, Everett Jewish Life Center of Chautauqua, NY, the Wexner Alumni of Metro North New Jersey, the Skirball Center for Adult Jewish Learning Kollel at Hebrew Union College, Samuel Bronfman Foundation, Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem and the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building Harlem. His articles have appeared in the Huffington Post, Haaretz, Jerusalem Post, New York Jewish Week, JTA, and the Jerusalem Report. Rabbi Kalb received his B.A. through the Joint Program between Columbia University and Jewish Theological Seminary and rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Shlomo Riskin Rosh Hayeshiva of Yeshivat Hamivtar in Efrat.
