Voted No.18 in the UK’s Jewish ‘Power 100’ list and awarded the Max Fisher International Prize for Jewish Education by the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem, Clive Lawton is Senior Consultant to Limmud, the internationally renowned Jewish adult education movement (of which he was a founder in 1980 and Director from 1999-2006) and an internationally active management and education consultant. He is a magistrate on the Haringey Bench, scholar-in-residence at the London Jewish Cultural Centre, on the faculties of the European Centre for Leadership Training and the London School of Jewish Studies, a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority where he is Chair of the Citizens’ Focus Sub- Committee, a patron of the Jewish AIDS Trust, on the Editorial Board of Jewish Renaissance, a trustee of the Jewish Community Centre for London, Chair of the Shap Working Party on Education in World Religions and is Chair of Tzedek (a 3rd World development charity). Clive grew up in Ealing and went to Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith. After a BA in English and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from York University, he became an Associate of the Drama Board in Education. He has an MA in Theatre and Film Studies (thesis on the plays of Alan Ayckbourn) and MEd in Religious Studies (thesis on the nurture of British Muslims, Hindus and Black Christians), and an MSc in Educational Management. He broadcasts and has written widely in the fields of religion, moral education and religious education.
