Dr. Alyssa Goldstein Sepinwall received her Ph.D. in History and Jewish Studies from Stanford University, and held the Lucius N. Littauer Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, University of Pennsylvania. She is Professor of History at California State University – San Marcos, where she is a past winner of the university’s Brakebill Distinguished Professor Award for outstanding professor of the year. Dr. Sepinwall specializes in French history, Haitian history, and French-Jewish history. Her first book, The Abbé Grégoire and the French Revolution: The Making of Modern Universalism, was a biography of a French revolutionary and priest who argued for emancipating Europe’s Jews. Her current research focuses on how history is represented in film.
