Cantor Mike Stein, Kenny Ford &
the 30 Member LIFE Choir

Mike Stein: What an amazing career! Mike Stein started his
musical journey at the age of ten, picking up the violin and
then singing in the synagogue. As a teenager he appeared in
the role of Peter in the Original Broadway cast of Jesus
Christ Superstar and then continued to perform in two
other Broadway shows and in the original road show of
Tommy, the rock opera. In his twenties Mike joined the
United States Navy Band in Washington, DC, where he
played fiddle and sang for four presidents at the White
House and all around the world, including China and
Sweden. During his 17 year career with the Navy (he is now
retired), he played on the Grand Ol’ Opry, Nashville Now
Show and Good Morning America, premiering a song that
he wrote in support of the Armed Forces in Desert Storm
called “We Are With You” (Chapell/Warner Bros). During
his career in the Navy, Mike began writing songs for
children, which eventually led to a Grammy Award
nomination in 1999 for his original composition
“Dreamosaurus.” His recordings, now on Rounder Records
(originally on Caedmon/RCA) have sold over 100,000 units.
Mike also recorded fiddle for many internationally
renowned artists such as the late Eva Cassidy, Mary Chapin
Carpenter, Tom Paxton, Jonathan Edwards and Tom
McCutcheon. His career in Jewish music is equally
impressive. He records and plays violin for Craig Taubman
and has toured with the Robyn Helzner trio for six years.
He recently appeared on KCET television in a Hannukah
special, playing violin for Craig Taubman and the great
Theodore Bikel. Presently he is the cantor at a Temple
Aliyah (Woodland Hills, Calif.).

Kenny Ford: Kenny Ford was born and raised in
Philadelphia PA. His father Thomas Ford was an
accomplished organist-pianist who played by ear (never a
lesson), and his mother, Dolores Fisher Brown, was an
accomplished mezzo soprano. It’s no wonder that Kenny
ended up being one of the most sought after pianist in the
city of Philadelphia, with an incredible range of musical
styles including Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Hip Hop & Classical.
Kenny has played for many well-known artists such as
Andrae Crouch, Jennifer Holiday, Jamie Foxx and El
Debarge and has performed with some of L.A.’s premier
churches (including The City of Refuge, Noel Jones Pastor,
West Angeles Church of God In Christ, Bishop Charles
